Triathlon at 7 a.m. on Saturday, July 22, 2017
The Bold Coast Sea & Sky Festival will host its second annual unconventional Sprint Triathlon at 7 a.m. on Saturday, July 22, 2017. This race will be an opportunity for athletes, their supporters and cheerers to experience beautiful DownEast scenery, the world’s biggest tides and if they are lucky bald eagles. This is an excellent course with no traffic lights and no crowding.
Athletes will start out with a 12K canoe on the beautiful Machias River. They will paddle from the public dock at Helen’s Restaurant to get a view of the amazing Bad Little Falls and then return. They will then do an out and back 20K bike from the dock to Roque Bluffs. They will finish the event with a scenic 5K run on the Hadley Lake Road.
Gatorade and water will be provided during the race and refreshments after the race.
Participants will receive a race t-shirt if their application is received on or before Monday July 10, 2017. All finishers will receive a handcrafted medal. First, second and third place winners will receive a one of a kind handcrafted award. All medals and awards are created by a local artist.
This is a not-for-profit event organized by the business owners and residents of Machias. The race is welcomed and supported by the friendly community. If you can’t join us for the race please come and enjoy the rest of the family friendly Bold Coast Sea & Sky Festival.
