Go Fly A Kite!

That phrase usually has a negative meaning, but now takes on a new more positive connotation for the Bold Coast Sea & Sky Festival.

The second annual Bold Coast Sea & Sky Festival, schedule for July 21st  and 22nd in Machias, will feature a varied of kite flying and kite related competitions. From highest flying, best designed, to the most artistic and the best kite dancing/tricks will be judged and awarded.

The K-12 grade categories along with adults will have a chance to show their ingenuity and kite flying skills at the festival by registering a team(s) by May 31st, 2017.

Adults wishing to participate in their own age category should contact Robert McCollum at 207-255-0333 or bob81848@msn.com. There is a $5.00 registration fee for each person/team enrolling.

Information about the Bold Coast Sea & Sky Festival’s “Go Fly a Kite” competition has been mailed out to all the public schools in Washington County. Any schools missed, private schools and those students being home schooled are wholeheartedly encouraged to contact Mr. McCollum at the phone number and/or email address listed below for registration information.

“We think this is a perfect learning opportunity for students as it calls for skills in math, engineering, art, construction, science, teamwork and more to build a kite. The added benefit is it will be a lot of fun”, says McCollum.

Anyone wishing to volunteer as staff for the project should also contact McCollum.
